Irazú Volcano, Basilica of Our Lady of The Angels and Orosi Valley

Your first stop is the Irazú Volcano which is 11.000 feet above sea level; this is the highest point on the Central Volcanic Mountain Range. We will continue, through the hills of our Agriculture region, where potatoes, cabbages, and other vegetable crops are grown. Higher in elevation you can observe our dairy farms as well, once reaching Irazú Volcano you can view both the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean on a nice clear day, after admiring the enormous crater.

You will then visit Cartago, the old capital of Costa Rica, also the home of Our Lady of the Angels Basilica, patroness of our country. This is a much-frequented place of pilgrimage.

After admiring our Cathedral, we will continue the tour to the beautiful Orosi valley, where will see the oldest Catholic Church found in Costa Rica (1743). Here you will experience the presence of our Spanish predecessors and their strong religious beliefs, a delicious lunch is provided at a local restaurant.

This tour offers an opportunity to sample some of Costa Rica’s natural beauty and rich heritage.
